Anna Blakeley has been valued member of our team at Kendal Mountain Events for over 8 years and has been involved with the organisation for a total of 12 years. During that time, Anna has been an integral part of the growth and success of the company contributing significantly to the delivery of the world’s biggest Adventure/Mountain Festival and an annual tour to over 60 UK venues.
Anna was specifically tasked with implementing and driving forward the UK Tour, which she has done with enormous ability and dedication, achieving year on year growth. Taking responsibility for operations and delivery, Anna has effectively managed a wide range of elements, from venue and speaker bookings, to technical support, marketing, ticket sales implementation, troubleshooting and Tour wrap-up. Under her leadership, we have seen significant expansion in the breadth of our tour locations and the calibre of films and speakers, resulting in a consistent increase in audience numbers each year.
In addition to her operational and delivery work on the UK Tour, Anna has been responsible for Tour brand alignment, ensuring that our sponsors and partners are represented effectively and meaningfully at our events. Her ability to create relevant proposals and foster strong relationships with stakeholders has been instrumental in our success.
Anna has also played a leading role in the production of our Festival, working closely with technical and production teams, venues, and brands to ensure the smooth delivery of our events. Her meticulous attention to detail and her proactive approach have been key factors in the seamless execution of complex projects.
More importantly, beyond her expertise in live programming and production, Anna has been a calm, kind and thoughtful member of our team. Anna was responsible for programming and organising a national tour of our feature documentary 'Adra,' managing multiple stakeholders and venues, and ensuring our film was put in front of the right audience. Anna absolutely excelled in every aspect of her role - as the filmmaker I felt she really took the time to understand our work - a climbing film can attract quite a 'niche' audience, but also we wanted to appeal to a broader demographic. Anna took this on and delivered a tour that was impactful, entertaining and diverse in audience attendance. Anna also ensured each venue fulfilled our access requirements for the Deaf and Blind community, helping us to build on our long-term objective to make adventure films accessible for all. I have known Anna since December 2011 when she joined the Brewery Arts Box Office team as a Senior Assistant, she was promoted to Box Office Manager in 2012. Anna was a great asset to the team, delivering high quality customer service and leading the team in managing the ticketing/customer relationship management system (Spektrix). Anna constantly looked at ways of developing and improving the team and systems enabling the team to respond to customer and organisational demands. Anna was respected as a line manager and viewed as someone who maintained high standards.
Also having worked with Anna as a link between Kendal Mountain Festival and Brewery Arts, she has shown great initiative and organisational skills. The festival ran online during Covid and was based at Brewery Arts and Anna was instrumental in making this happen under difficult circumstances and within very strict boundaries. In more recent years she has led on the Production elements of the main festival and managed the Kendal Mountain Tour. She was always very organised and pre-empted the venues needs ensuring the arts centre received everything they required to be able to present events at the venue. I know that myself and my colleagues always felt ‘in safe hands’ when Anna was managing a project.
